The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 17 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Deebo Samuel practiced for the second consecutive day. The wide receiver is attempting to return from MCL and ankle sprains sustained during Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fans won’t see Samuel return against the Raiders. The 49ers ruled him out for Sunday. However, Samuel could play in the 49ers’ regular-season finale against the Arizona Cardinals.
“We’ll see how practice goes,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said. “I mean, he’s got to do more practice than he did this week, but he’s got a chance to.”
The 49ers could have opened the practice window for running back Elijah Mitchell this week. He was not seen for the early part of practice open to reporters.
“We actually would have opened [the practice window] today or maybe even yesterday, but he’s been home sick the last two days,” Shanahan explained. “We’ve had a bug going around but he was good enough to start practicing today (even though he didn’t), so we’ll definitely start that next week.”
Below are the official injury reports for the 49ers and Raiders, provided by the 49ers Communications staff. Also included are Friday’s practice participation reports.

49ers-Raiders Injury Report: Deebo Samuel’s return highlights Thursday practice
The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 17 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The biggest news from Thursday’s practice was the return of Deebo Samuel. The wide receiver joined his teammates on the field for the first time since sustaining MCL and ankle sprains against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 11. He is expected to be ready for the playoffs, with a return at some point in these last two regular- season games a possibility. Head coach Kyle Shanahan stated that Samuel’s return on Thursday was likely, but depended on how his Wednesday workout went. Samuel was a limited participant in practice. With the NFC West title and a playoff spot already secured, there is no need

49ers injury updates on Jimmy Garoppolo, Kerry Hyder; Deebo Samuel could return to practice on Thursday
Deebo Samuel could return to practice as early as Thursday, says San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. Of course, that all depends on how today goes. “I think he has a chance to practice tomorrow,” Shanahan told reporters before the first full practice of the week. “It depends on how today’s workout goes and stuff.” Shanahan provided other injury updates during today’s pre-practice press conference, including an update on quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who had his cast removed this week. Does the coach have a better idea regarding Garoppolo’s timeline to return to the field? “No. Nothing’s changed with that,” Shanahan replied. “He just got the hard cast off, so he’s not able to move around and do stuff yet.

Kyle Shanahan provides injury updates on Deebo Samuel, Elijah Mitchell, several others ahead of 49ers-Raiders
For only the fourth time this season, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan stepped up to the podium after a game and did not have any injuries to report. Running back Jordan Mason and cornerback Charvarius Ward appeared to sustain injuries against the Washington Commanders. However, the coach did not name them in the post-game injury report, indicating that the team was not concerned about either. Both players returned to the game, with Mason playing 16 more snaps on special teams after the scare on the opening kickoff and Ward returning in the fourth quarter after experiencing some nausea and being examined for a head injury. On Monday, two days after the game, Shanahan spoke with reporters via a conference call, providing injury updates. One of the
