Titanic’s 25th anniversary re-release poster leaves fans puzzled by Kate Winslet’s bizarre hairstyle

Titanic, perhaps the most beloved disaster film of all time, is headed back to movie theaters on February 10.

But amid the celebration from fans of the movie and cinephiles energized by director James Camerons’ current box office juggernaut Avatar: The Way Of Water, some fans took to Twitter to share their puzzlement at the movie’s re-release poster.

Fans noticed that star Kate Winslet, 47, now has a bizarre dual hairdo that seems to mix the curls she sported on the original poster with a much more casual straight style.

‘why does she have two different hairstyles[?],’ wondered the entertainment writer Hunter Harris on Twitter, which gave voice to a common reaction.

Silver anniversary: Titanic, starring Kate Winslet, 47, and Leonardo DiCaprio, 48, is heading back to theaters for its 25th anniversary, but several fans complained about Winslet’s bizarre hairdo on the new poster

The new image appears to be a variation of the picture of Kate and Leonardo DiCaprio hugging from the original Titanic poster, but it appears to have been flipped, with Leo’s arms newly visible.

Kate always appeared to have slightly straight, longer hair visible on the other side of her head, but the new poster appears to have added new, longer hair that emphasizes her straightness.

The poster has also removed the bow of the Titanic, instead leaving plenty of white space to put the focus on Rose and Jack.

One person replied, ‘She was getting a perm then the iceberg hit?’ and included an image of Amy Poehler with half of her hair styled in tight curls from a hilarious Parks And Recreation scene.

Another person joked that the straight hair belonged to Celine Dion, who sang the film’s popular theme song, My Heart Will Go On.

One user theorized that the odd hair ‘represents the duality of her having to portray her societal role and the life she wishes to have, free, with Jack.’

The writer George Griffiths joked that it was ‘stressing’ him out that Winslet had two different haircuts.

Others were more blunt, with one fan saying the new look was ‘appalling,’ while also complaining, ‘Where’s the goddamn boat!?’

Another fan noted Kate’s ‘squished af arm,’ which was now visible at an odd angle against her back, and DiCaprio’s new ‘Ken doll hand crushing her will to live.’
